Large Antique Copper Vat Planter
Large Antique Copper Vat Planter
Gorgeous & substantial old antique circular copper vat/cauldron with heavy riveted wrought iron swing drop carrying handles. The well-proportioned and reasonably heavy pot sits extremely well and has an enviable Verdigris patina showing through. In remarkably good order retaining its shape and functionality.
In the 19th century copper cauldrons were used for cooking or boiling water for laundry over a fire. Today these highly decorative artforms are prized equally for their interior ornamentation as they are as garden features. Often used as planters, log bins or stand-alone inspiration. They can also be taken to another level by filling with wine and/or champagne as a table centrepiece.
