Antique Art Deco Oak Tallboy Cupboard Compactum Wardrobe
Antique Art Deco Oak Tallboy Cupboard Compactum Wardrobe
An impressive & highly decorative golden oak tallboy cupboard, compactum, dating to the Art Deco period of the 1930s. The lovely configuration shows a small, neat but spacious cupboard over a bank of five well-proportioned drawers, flanked by a larger cupboard/wardrobe with working lock and key, all with original disc pull handles and all raised on well designed and shaped curved feet.
A superb and rare example, aged beautifully, retaining its rich golden honey oak colour, with a wonderful, figured grain showing through.
This is an extremely versatile piece of furniture that would sit well in any room or setting.
Overview: All drawers run freely and smoothly. All drawers have locks in place. (no key present). Cupboard wardrobe has all original features that include hanging rail, tie rack and umbrella stand/rack. Original lock and key. Later added magnetic catches to wardrobe door that allows for a deliberate and snug closure. These can be simply removed if required. Small metal brackets attached to feet/wardrobe base. This is a well-constructed heavy peace, made lighter for portability by the removal of the solid oak drawers.
Condition: Commensurate with its age and use. Solid, robust and fully functional. Dings, dents or scars associated with a working piece of antique/vintage furniture. Some losses to back panel, out of sight. Overall superb.
