Vintage Post office Pigeonhole Cabinet
Vintage Post office Pigeonhole Cabinet
A superb vintage post office pigeonhole, writing slope, circa 1950s with beautifully exposed dovetail jointing. Well engineered and crafted, this would have been stationed front of house and used by the post master for clocking in and out the mail. Constructed of solid English oak throughout with a plywood back this heavy and substantial floor standing pigeonhole cabinet made up of twenty variable sized sections and compartments has a multitude of uses (shown here as a drinks cabinet) that will sit equally as comfortable within a domestic, retail or hospitality setting. Examples of use: Wine rack/bar cabinet, haberdashery and hosiery, collector/display etc. An unusual and extremely versatile piece that has patinated beautifully, showing all the age related wear associated with a fully functional working piece of furniture.
