Arts & Crafts Glasgow School Oak Chair - Wylie Lochhead
Arts & Crafts Glasgow School Oak Chair - Wylie Lochhead
A beautiful Arts and Crafts, Glasgow School hall chair, circa 1900, attributed to Robert Wylie and William Lochhead, to a design by John Ednie. Rich in both colour and grain, the honey oak chair has a tall back with neatly pierced square apertures along with decoratively pierced tall sides, and a curved seat. A beautifully crafted and well proportioned heavy oak chair which is striking in its simplicity.
Wylie & Lochhead was a household name in 19th-century Glasgow and beyond, for furnishings of artistic design and high quality craftsmanship. Although unmarked as many pieces were, we see this very much as Wylie & Lochhead of Glasgow piece.
Condition: Overall is quite superb with only minor age related wear.
