Pair of Globe Wernicke Six Tier Barristers Library Bookcases
Pair of Globe Wernicke Six Tier Barristers Library Bookcases
A beautiful & impressive pair of six tier (eight section) Globe Wernicke oak Barristers/Library stacking bookcases on a plinth base, circa 1920s, with typical lift and slide glass doors. Comes with original makers badge to each glazed section, bar one. This type of bookcase was often referred to as a Barristers bookcase and advertised as “Always complete but never finished” due to the variations that could be achieved by adding or taking away sections. This particular version splits down into eight stacking sections (including plinth base and cornice top) that fit snugly and seamlessly into or onto the next.
Superb and rare examples, aged beautifully, retaining their rich oak colour with wonderful shades of the lighter honey oak showing through.
Condition: Obviously been looked after very well. Quite remarkable condition for their age with only very light wear. Missing one small bronze knob which will be sourced in the meantime.
You are welcome to view with no obligation at the friendly & informal ‘LeBove Interiors’, Bristol. Open by appointment.
