A lovely, rare 1950s shop counter, art gallery display cabinet stamped Winsor & Newton. A glazed sloping rising lid sits above eight short drawers and a single fall front drawer, enclosing full size sliding shelves above a further two short deep drawers. Each drawer with a moulded and ebonised pull handle runs the full depth of the chest/cabinet providing safe and organised storage of large and smaller pieces of art, architects plans/drawings etc. The glazed top lifts up and open to reveal a full size large display area, ideal for exhibiting merchandise or showcasing collectables etc. An extremely versatile piece that will sit equally well in the home as it will a commercial or retail setting. Superb!
Summary: Beech & oak construction. Stamped to back 1958. Ebonised handles and base plinth. Winsor & Newton original painted makers stamp (not stickers) Deep red vinyl inlay to display area. Leather/vinyl pull strap handles to enclosed drawers.
Condition: Solid, robust & fully functional. Dings, dents or scars commensurate with age associated with a working piece of furniture. All drawers run well. Light scratches to glass with no cracks.
